Minister visits port

On the occasion of his journey through several African countries, the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dirk Niebel, also visited Togo in December 2011. The formal purpose of the visit was the resumption of development cooperation. Among other locations, the Minister also visited the port of Lomé, one of Togo's most important projects, that has been implemented with financial aid from Germany. The port of Lomé was the first deep water port that has been developed and planned by INROS LACKNER AG in 1960. Still today, INROS LACKNER's engineers accompany the development of the port. Mr. Klaus Ammermann, Director of the company's Africa Department, not only explained to the Minister in detail the different stages of construction accomplished in the past, but also the extension measures that have been projected for the future. Then, possibilities how to have the port benefit from future financial assistance were discussed.
